The Country - Practical Information
If you are planning to travel to New Zealand, here is some practical
information
Time Zone
New Zealand is 12 hours ahead of Paris from November to March and 10 hours ahead from April to October.
Visa
European citizens do not require a visa for a stay of less than 3 months, a valid Passport is the only requirement so long as the expiry date is no less than 3 Months after your planned departure date. For all other nationalities please contact your local embassy or consulate.
Vaccinations
No vaccination is required. Apart from the sheep, there are no dangerous animals.
Climate
Ocean board, temperate. The seasons are the opposite to those in the Northern hemisphere. Please also refer to the Geography page.
Holidays
The main holiday period is from mid December to the end of January. Schools also have holidays for 2 weeks in April, July and September/October.
Currency
Local currency is the New Zealand dollar. Avoid buying them outside of NZ as Euros and US dollars and travellers cheques are readily accepted by the banks and you can use your credit card almost everywhere. Government goods and services tax (GST) at 12.5% is generally included in the price.
